A Special guide for the intrepid travelers of the Route 40 Traveling around Argentina is a marvelous experience we not only recommend to our readers but also something we take upon in our own hands and do it ourselves. I’ve traveled in and around the world, lived in various countries from the British Guyana and Colombia, to England and Uruguay, and when I finally settled in Argentina I knew I had found my place in the world. As I began to discover the wonders and beauties of this gorgeous immense territory that’s located in the south of the American continent, I’ve always wanted more, to travel more, to know more. The main problem I faced in this sense was the lack of good, sustainable information regarded the different areas, circuits and attractions. Therefore I began to develop a broad corpus of information I gathered in every single one of my trips. Some 5 years ago, I came up with the idea of sharing my insiders’ point of view online as an aid for fellow travelers who, as myself, loved the country but lacked the instruments to properly discover it. The response to my articles online was wonderful, and I began to wonder which would be the best set of traveling information for travelers who wanted more. The response I came up with was a big combo: the detailed descriptions of travelers’ experiences, plus a set of maps, and a new guide that’s recently been issued in Argentina. The new guide is published by YPF, the Argentine Petrol Company, and comes out in a dual format: book-like guide and an interactive CD. Yearly updated the 2007-2008 issue has been greatly updated featuring this time an extra special guide on Wineries and Wines. The best piece of information provided by the guide is its hotel and restaurant options in and around the Argentine territory. With insightful and well rated options in every single town of the large Argentina, this guide provides a solid input of information that comes out extremely handy when traveling throughout the barren Argentine countryside, far away from the greatly populated big cities, the key to being able to discover new and wild areas of our country is knowing where to stay, to eat as well as where and who to as for information. Atop the great lodging and eating tips, the guide provides its readers with accurate information on the local peoples of inland Argentina, National Parks, as well as popular celebrations and festivities. Plus, this year’s edition has a separate input on Argentine Ranches and Wineries. While this aspect of the guide is very useful, the maps provided aren’t exactly the best possible maps to drive around unknown areas. All in all, this aspect can be improved by acquiring the better maps separately. And so combining the reliable information and travel tips, together with a broader set of maps, the traveler who wants more will be all set to head off the great unknown inlands of Argentina.
